The IPV represents the interests of the companies manufacturing flexible packaging as well as those of the firms supplying to the packaging industry. It was founded in the year 1949 and has its headquarters in Frankfurt.
The following examples illustrate the IPV’s high degree of flexibility and its forcefulness in representing the interests of its members for an industry dominated by middle-sized companies:
- A significant transformation of the image of the carrier bag, which has become a highly efficient advertising vehicle with cult status
- The initiation and assertion of competition in the question of the disposal of packaging
- The establishment of the IPV/PTS standard.
The IPV offers its members a comprehensive package of services, which is being continuously updated to meet the demands of the market:
- An up-to-date information service covering all subjects relevant to the industry
- Answering specialist questions
- Bench marketing with surveys of the individual companies’ classification within the competition
- Expert symposiums and seminars on a wide variety of topics, e.g. Hygiene Management, VOC-directive, traceability of materials that come into contact with foodstuffs, etc.
- Workshops as forums and know-how pools for the mutual exchange of experiences and the development of ideas, strategies, and projects
- Representation of the industry to officialdom, organisations and associations
- Public Relations
Since as long ago as 1966 the IPV has been engaged in active public relations activities, whereby the effectiveness of advertising, the usefulness to consumers of flexible packaging/service packaging and current economic and environmental issues are at the focus of attention - Market research projects
